Marchangels is a grassroots organization that provides resources and referrals for resources, to people in need in the community. Marchangels was formed to reach people of all economic positions in society, from the homeless to the low income families.
Marchangels was created simply to help and inspire others to help. That no matter your financial status or life's situation, everyone can make a difference in life of someone less fortunate than you. We all can be angels in the lives of others.
Whats in a name?
I created Marchangels in memory of my brother and to continue his dream to help others.
What's in a name? The name Marchangels is a combination of the words Mark and Archangels.
Mark is my brother. He was born on January 2 1979 and was killed February 10 2008.
Archangles are considered guardian angels that God has assigned to protect each individual person on Earth, but he often sends archangels to accomplish earthly tasks of a larger scale.
So please spread the word about Marchangels and do something nice for someone else every day! A little kindness goes a long way! Be someones angel!
Before Mark's passing in February 2008, he was working twards helping the less fortunate in the community. He had dreams of creating community centers and half way houses for troubled youth. He himself had a troubled childhood but turned his life around and wanted to give back to people and help them avoid the situations that had been through.
In the winter of 2014, Marchangels was created. It began as a simple Facebook page of people fufilling the needs of others in the group but has blossomed into a non profit organization in just a few months. Less than 5 months ofter its creation, the Marchangels Facebook group itself has reached close to 2,500 members, and with the help of the people supporting the mission of Marchangels, many individulas and families have found help. Since its creation in 2014, Marchangels has helped feed hundreds of Portland's homeless by creating and delivering food and hygeine packages to individuals living on the downtown streets.
